Celebrating my 1 Year Weight Watchers Anniversary!!

Me in February 2013

I started Weight Watchers 1 year ago! I am happy to report that I have lost 60 lbs!! That is far more than I thought was possible!! I am proud of myself for sticking to it! My 2 big vices before Weight Watchers was Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips and Coke! In the past year I have had 2 small bags of Salt & Vinegar chips. Did you know that 1 individual bag of chips is actually 3 servings!! And yes, when I ate that bag, I ate it in 3 servings, over 3 days. I still enjoy Coke, but 1/2 can at a time a few times a week. Instead of potato chips, I moved to Pop Chips and now to Smart Pop Popcorn. I also enjoy those Pepperidge Farm Cracker Chips, but Smart Pop is my go to snack.

I have spent the past year eating out in restaurants! I enjoy the Sirloin steak at The Keg. When we go to the Spaghetti Factory I order the kids portion of spaghetti and pass on the ice cream.

I also still enjoy cupcakes!! I just work them into my allotment of points. I eat cereal for breakfast, Fruit Salad for lunch and then splurge on my dinner. I also drink water all day long!

For most of the year I have walked every where! Now that there is snow piling up outside I try to fit in 15 minutes of exercise, twice per day, by walking the stairs or running on the spot or dancing to some of my favourite music in my living room.

I have also gone on 5 vacations, plus endured Christmas. I seem to gain about 1 lb, but I am able to lose it once I get back! When I am on vacation, I try to be mindful of what I eat, but still enjoy myself.

I feel Weight Watchers has allowed me to take control of my understanding of food, letting me make the right choices for myself! I am so proud of my success and hope to encourage others to join!! In 1 short year I am returning back to the person I used to be!!

Congratulations! You are inspiring me! I am a stress eater so I’ll try your smart pop corn next time I need something! I have a similar routine of yogurt for breakfast and salad for lunch and enjoy dinner with my family – but smaller portions and no seconds. It’s tough to be the one wanting to lose weight while the rest of the family is eating whatever they want.

Way to go, girl! I’ve been reading a lot on ‘sugar’ and this is the main culprit for weight gain. There is a good video about sugar and how it is not metabolized properly in our bodies; therefore, it adds to the weight gain. See video on YouTube from a fellow in California – be prepared to sit for 1 1/2 hours. Totally worth it!

I am doing the same – eliminating honey from my daily tea, no sugar in coffee, no sweets (but when I do it’s only half, like you say), and total elimination of pop (that includes sugar-free!). I’ve swapped to water all day long plus when I crave for the sweet soda, I turn to Pellegrino bubbly water. Never have I felt so good, too!
