Gemma and I started watching Cake Boss and she got interested in learning more about decorating cakes! So I was excited to come across a new store in our nearby neighbourhood, Le Dolci! They are a bakery with a studio offering a variety of classes throughout the week! I signed Gemma and myself up for the Intro to Cupcake Decorating!!
The class is 2 hours long and you spend about 1 1/2 hours decorating 6 cupcakes using fondant! You start with white fondant and gel dies and you can make your own colours! Then there are a variety of tools to use, such as shape cutters, to make your designs!
You learn tips and tricks for applying your fondant shapes! There is also edible glitter you can add to your cupcakes!
As well, there are templates to use that you can stamp textures into your fondant!
The last 1/2 hour is spent learning a bit about Buttercream icing and decorating our last 6 cupcakes! There are different colours and icing tips to work with!
In the end you go home with 12 cupcakes that you have decorated! And in our case 24!! Good thing Mark is working – his co-workers enjoyed them greatly!!
