Ep. 693 – Basic Grey Out of Print & a Contest!!

Scrap Time - Ep. 693 - Basic Grey Out of Print & a Contest!!

Today I am showing you the Basic Grey Out of Print Collection! I loved this Collection when I saw it!! It came out this past Spring! One thing I love about Out of Print is that the products aren’t only inspiring to use, but the products inspire other projects as well! First up is this layout I made. I love that collage background paper. I used Gesso to make a matte for my photo. I sprayed some Color Wash in Lettuce, Sailboat Blue and Sunset Orange. I then painted the red dots using the Crafter’s Workshop Stencil and Studio Dash or Red paint. I added some Chipboard shapes and Stickers inside a few of the circles. I used the Alpha Stickers for my title. And I doodled using my Faber-Castel Pitt Pens.

Scrap Time - Ep. 693 - Basic Grey Out of Print & a Contest!!

For the card I used another sheet of the Collage paper and sprayed using the Lettuce and Sailboat Blue Color Washes. I punched a scallop circle and then applied some Stickers to it. Finally I added a Bloomer Flower in the middle of the card.

Scrap Time - Ep. 693 - Basic Grey Out of Print & a Contest!!

This first Art Journal page started out with one design in mind, and ended up like this. This is one example how the products can inspire you to do something completely different. I added the Butterflies from the Collection.

Scrap Time - Ep. 693 - Basic Grey Out of Print & a Contest!!

This Art Journal page was one of the first projects I made. I ripped the Stripes off 2 of the pieces of paper. I like to use a metal edge ruler to rip my paper when I am art journaling. I then used Gesso and the Mini Punchinella Template.

Scrap Time - Ep. 693 - Basic Grey Out of Print & a Contest!!

This final paper and made a patchwork background using a variety of the papers. I then used Picket Fence Distress Stain over all of the papers to give it a unified look. I used the Wonky Circle Template with Jenni Bowlin’s Chewing gum paint to make the circles. I then used the mini Punchinella template with Jenni Bowlin’s Speckled Egg and Seed Packet Paint dabbers. I glued my Chipboard Pieces on and then journaled using my Faber-Castell Pitt Pens.

As you can see there are so many ways to used these papers and products! I love this collection and look forward to using more of the papers.

Check out the Basic Grey site to see all of the products in this collection.

Christine: I love your art journal page about the city. I have been doing lots of thinking/art journaling/scheming about cities vs. suburb – I live in a large suburb in the southwest US, and love to visit cities for their energy and diversity. I enjoy your videos and watch them first thing on Mon., Wed. and Fri. (with my breakfast by the computer). I really like this Basic Grey collection and hope to be a winner and add some to my art journal!! And maybe make some cards as gifts for the holidays!! Thank you for the videos and the chance to win this giveaway!!

Basic Grey has been my “go to” paper choice since I first found them. Their papers are always beautiful without being “cute”, and I LOVE their new Out of Print papers, although I was secretly hoping that it meant they were bringing back some of their retired papers from the past (as in “out of print”!), since I wish I’d bought more of them years ago. Thanks for the great videos and the giveaway.

Hi Christine: I loved this collection so much that I now own most of the components except the 12×12 paper pack. You definitely showed me some great uses for my stash! I don’t have to be entered in this contest because I have the collection and also because I was the incredibly lucky winner of the Tim Holtz Christmas tag in a previous contest. I fairly drag people in off the street to show off that prized possession!
