Today I am showing you the Flip Pal! The Flip Pal is a mobile scanner! It was designed to make scanning photos easier! You can take it to a family function, everyone can bring their old photos, and then you can scan them and they will automatically get scanned onto a SD card. This card can then be put into your computer, the photos downloaded and now you can make SD cards for the whole family of older pictures!!
But that is only the beginning of what the Flip Pal can do!! The great thing about the Flip Pal is that the lid is removable! Now you can scan any item! There is a window on the back so you can place the Flip Pal exactly where you want it!! You can scan clothing, knits, wallpaper, newspaper, basically anything that is flat! Above are print outs of scans of Gemma’s clothing and a crocheted blanket. So why would you want to scan other items?
So you can use them in your crafting projects!! Here I did a transfer technique using Gesso as my base. By using Gesso white is showing through my transfer. You can use coloured paint as well, and whatever colour you use will show through the transfer.
Here is another fun way to do a transfer! I demo this in the video! I had this page in my Art Journal where I had misted the page using a variety of colours. I wanted that colour to show through, so I am using Gel Medium for my transfer. I applied the Gel Medium where I wanted the texture to be, then with the image facing down placed it onto the medium and burnished it to make sure it was nice and flat. Then you need to completely dry it! Once it is dry, spray a lot of water over the paper, and then rub with your finger to remove the paper. The image will start to appear. When I think I got off all the paper I dry it again. When it is dry, some areas may go white again. This is where you need to remove more of the paper. Spray with water again and repeat. There is a fine line between removing the paper and starting to remove the image. When you are happy with how it looks, take Glossy Gel Medium, and I use my finger, and spread it over the image. This will seal the image and prevent the white haze from forming. The Glossy Gel Medium trick was taught to me by Claudine Hellmuth.
And now you can have unique textures in your different projects!! This is only 1 example of how you can use your Flip Pal for your crafting projects!! Experiment with it and have fun!!
