Ep. 111 – White Inks and Pens

Scrap Time - Ep. 111 - Comparing White Inks and Pens

Today I compare some white inks and pens.

The inks I compared are: Brilliance Moonlight White, Versa Magic Cloud White, Stampin’ Up! Craft Whisper White and Staz-on Opaque Cotton White. Basically, I liked all except the Staz-On. It did very poor on paper, but maybe works well on glass.

Scrap Time - Ep. 111 - Comparing White Inks and Pens

The pens I compared are: Uni-ball Signo, Y&C Gel Xtreme 0.7, Sakura Souffle, Sakura Gelly Roll, American Crafts, Sakura Permapague and the Sharpie Poster Paint. The majority of the pens performed well, except the American Crafts pen stopped on me before I could get the title out. I may just have a bad pen. And I wasn’t impressed with the Sakura Permapague. My favorite is still the Uni-ball Signo for fine work and the Sharpie Poster Paint for things a little thicker.

Christine, I love using white markers and inks. BUT!! I have not found one that I really love. Thank you for doing the comparing them for us. Now I know the one to get on my next shopping trip. Thank you. This is why I watch all your shows.

  2. Rebeca says:

Thank you so much for doing this topic. I find that good white inks and pens are a really hard thing to find. YOU have helped so many scapbookers/paper crafters by doing this show topic!
    Keep up the great shows!

  3. Karen says:

Ditto! Your shows are great and this is another fine example. Great comparative examples in a high quality, but to-the-point clip. I also feel like you are VERY fair and not favoring any particular manufacturer. Thank you!

  4. Monica says:

Thanks for the great info on white pens/inks. It certainly saves on wasting money on purchasing ones that just simply don’t work!!!

  5. Irene says:

Thanks Christine for doing the legwork for us. Fortunately, someone told me about the Uni-ball by Signo. I have been very happy with it! Appreciate all your info on the different products…it is saving me lots of money- by purchasing the best one the first time! Thanks!

Thanks again, what a time and money saver you are for us all! :D

Just wondering, I always get confused with storing my ink pads and pens.. maybe this would make a great pod-cast? I know you should store double sided pens horizontal, but do you have other tips as well, and I just store all my ink pads upside down (except SU, cause they’re made to store themselves USD), as I never remember what is what!!

    ((HUGS)) Chelle

  7. Kris says:

Thanks for the info. My American Crafts white pen doesn’t write very well either. It skips alot and is very frustrating…to the point that I never use it. I agree with your top 2 picks too.
